Origin
The Task Democracy Research Community is hosted by the Noorden Duurzaam association in The Netherlands, and is open to researchers and practitioners world-wide. As a community we share contacts, knowledge and case data related to task democracy, and we co-create, review and test task democracy model improvements.
History
Noorden Duurzaam was established in 2013 as a general association for regional sustainable development. After a failed project promote Cradle to cradle and a failed attempt to create a network of transition tables, the general assembly argued that a different kind of effort was needed to counter the upcoming polycrisis. In 2017, a research effort was kicked off to explore root causes and develop alternative approaches. This resulted in the task democracy model, a series of lectures and conference papers and simulations and field experiments with elements of the concept, mainly in The Netherlands.
Non-profit
Noorden Duurzaam is a non-profit association, registered as an Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) by the Dutch tax authorities. Its income consists of membership fees and project funding from subsidies and government contracts.
